| Don Sheil of Australia represents the culmination of skills acquired over three generations of the Sheil family as metal artisans. Today, as the master craftsman, Mark Sheil carries on the tradition of excellence by creating timeless pieces of tableware and accessories that continue the legacy of his family.
Mark’s father, Don Sheil, a silversmith of great vision, had experimented with various metals, but was disappointed with their limitations. It was not until he tapped into the versatility of high purity aluminum, that he really began to appreciate its potential. As an engineer, artist and master craftsman, he developed the alloy to a point, where inspiration and technology could be translated into functional design. Through this period of development, his son Mark watched and learned. Mark’s creative skills complemented those of his father. With this a great father and son team was formed and flourished for the next twenty years.
It was agreed from the beginning that a standard of excellence must be attained and continually challenged. To achieve this, each Don Sheil item is handmade and carries the Don Sheil trademark signature. Many designs have been inspired by nature; therefore, as in nature no two pieces will ever be the same.
Don Sheil tableware is made to be used; not just admired. Each item has the enduring beauty of silver without the drawbacks. It will not tarnish or impart metallic taste, nor will it be affected by salad dressing, mustard, or wine. Normal washing is the only cleaning necessary, but like any precious ware do not place in the dishwasher.
